On behalf of the Management, Staff and Whole School Community at Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown, we would like to offer our support during this challenging time for everyone.  Below are some Useful Links & General Advice that we hope will help our Students, Parents/Guardians & School Community during the School Closure Period.

The closure period was extended to Sunday 19th April at the Leo Varadkar’s national address yesterday (Tuesday 24th March 2020), meaning we are not due to Re-Open until Monday 20th April unless this changes again in the coming weeks.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 365:
Our school had introduced Office 365 to our Staff from January 2019 & our Students from September 2019, so we had developed both ours & the students’ capacity to use this platform productively over the last 6 months.  As recently as this month, we received additional Continuous Professional Development during our Transition Year Work Experience week, which further prepared us for the initial School Closure.

During the first week of Closure, teacher’s were busy setting work for their classes & keeping the Teaching & Learning going.  A minority of Students have not benefitted fully from this, through reasons of their own as they struggled to record or recall their Usernames &/or Passwords
Sample Username= YourChild.CM20@cmj.ie Explained = First Name, Surname, Dot, Coláiste Mhuire, Year they started school with us.
Passwords have a minimum of 6 characters. We recommend Students set-up their Mobile Phone number as a way to retrieve Forgotten Passwords via a PIN.

We thank the Parents / Guardians who were proactive in this regard and contacted the School Office to have their Log In details Re-Set & sent back out by Text Message.  We urge others to check with their children to verify that they are indeed gaining access.
Teacher’s too have flagged some students, as they can monitor Engagement from their respective Teams in Office 365.  Parents have been contacted in this regard & Year Heads will monitor this regularly going forward.

EMAIL GUIDELINES:
Should you need to contact the School Office in this regard or for any other matter, please do so using our email address info@colaistemhuirekk.ie as Office Staff are working remotely so calls are being re-directed.
If you are sending an email, please Put Students Name, Year & Class in the Subject Box which makes it all more efficient to process to Year Heads & Senior Management.

BOOKS:
Due to increased restrictions announced, collection of School Books & Accessing of Lockers is no longer advised.  Instead, All Books can be accessed Free online from the publishing companies, if students don’t already have their books with them.
