Students from Transition Year became the first from Coláiste Mhuire to experience a MicroSoft DreamSpace workshop on Monday 15th March 2021!
The DreamSpace is a purpose-built area for school visits located at MicroSoft One Plaza in Leopardstown, Dublin on the site of their European headquarters. Mr Dunne has had the honour of visiting there on a number of ocasions (pre-Covid) during initiatives such as the Junior Cycle Coding In Action and Minecraft for Education. Due to Covid-19, the Workshops took place remotely this year and were facilitated by Ms Amanda Joliffe (Team Lead) and her colleague Ms Corey Hughes, both former secondary school teachers of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths).
Among the areas that were Discussed and Demostrated were the Societal Impact of Computers over 10 years and the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
A follow up Workshop on Coding focussed on Design Thinking, Problem Solving & the use of MicroBits to complete a Coding Challenge.
