Extra Curricular Activities

Activities outside the classroom are vital for all-round education and holistic development of our students. Extra-curricular activities play an important role in this, as they provide students with opportunities to take part in a variety of sports, clubs and hobbies which allow them to have fun, develop new skills, make new friends and work effectively with others. We encourage all our students to take part in extra-curricular activities and are blessed to have so many teachers who are willing to give of their time in organising activities, both sporting and cultural for students.

Considerable effort goes into meeting the student’s recreational needs and in emphasising the importance of health and fitness. In Coláiste Mhuire we have excellent facilities for outdoor games, two all-weather pitches, a full sports field and training ground, school gym, dressing rooms etc. We play a wide variety of games: Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic football, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Handball, Athletics. The availability of such a variety of games guarantees that most students will participate in at least one sport. Students are encouraged to take part in games, but are never forced or pressurised.
